Meet the Team

Sydney Wray
Owner, LCMHCA
I would love to tell you more about me! I completed my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. Before that, I received two Bachelor's degrees, in Criminal Justice and Sociology, from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. During my time at UNCPembroke I also finished a certificate in Addiction's Counseling. I enjoy working with many different people groups but I especially enjoy children and teens as I feel they have unique perspectives of the world that I often find myself learning from.

Outside of the therapy room, I am passionate about business owners and entrepreneurs. It is amazing to watch people learn new skills and apply them to their craft and truly flourish. I offer one-on-one business coaching as well as workshops.

Owner, LCMHCA
I'm so glad you're interested in hearing more! Just like my daughter, Sydney, I completed my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. This is a career change for me as I have been a lifelong educator as a university, high school, and homeschool teacher as well as an ABA therapy provider. But my love for children and teens remain. And art and play therapy integration is my jam! I also enjoy working with clients and their families. It is very rewarding to see them come together to overcome adversity. I am also especially passionate about helping those on the autism spectrum receive a diagnosis if they choose that path.
I also offer career and college coaching and planning, and IEP consultations due to my experience in teaching.

Hi! My name is Holland Michels, I am so glad you're here. I received my master's degree from UNC-Charlotte and I completed my bachelor's degree in Elementary and Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University.

I pursued social work in hopes of helping people understand their value and navigate their mental health. I have a passion for working with youth and teens and to engage clients through art, kinesthetic processing, and DBT.

I will begin seeing clients in July after my LCSWA license is approved.

Clinical Operations Intern
Misbah Chhotani
Hi my name is Misbah Chhotani and I am a Clinical Operations Intern here at House of Sparrows Counseling. I am a North Carolina native, born and raised in Burlington. I graduated in 2026 from UNC Greensboro with a degree in Psychology and am currently pursuing a career in occupational therapy, with a focus on working with young children. I am especially interested in incorporating psychological principles into occupational therapy practice to support more holistic, developmentally informed care. Outside of my educational and professional goals, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing video games, and reading books. I value balance and find joy in both meaningful connection and quiet personal downtime.

Clinical Operations Intern
Kortlynn Long
Hello! My name is Kortlynn Long and I am a clinical Operations Intern with House of Sparrow Counseling. I claim the west as my home, but I am already deeply in love with NC. I returning to the work force after a seven-year hiatus raising two kiddos. I have a BA in public relations and a MA in history education. My love of learning and people has helped me to realize my true passion and path, mental health and wellness! I'm gearing up to go back to school and receive my second master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, (wish me luck!) I'm so excited to begin that journey here. When I'm not working you'll catch me reading, watching survivor, or training for my next triathalon.
